Terms & Conditions

Summary

Daniel Cumber Psychology (DCP) will always do our best to fulfil your needs and meet your expectations, but it’s important to have things written down so that we both know what’s what, who should do what and when, and what will happen if something goes wrong. Before starting any work we will provide you with information about our terms and conditions. The information DCP provides you with will include costings, services DCP will provide you with, how you can pay, when you should pay, and what happens if either of us cancels any work.

What does DCP expect from you?

DCP expect that you have the authority to enter into any agreements with us on behalf of yourself, your child, or your organisation. You’ll provide DCP with the information DCP needs to provide you with the most appropriate service from 'the educational psychologist' (AKA Dr Daniel Cumber, 'Dan' hereafter). DCP would normally expect you to complete a referral form prior to an initial discussion. For circumstances where an initial discussion is not necessary, DCP would expect you to provide Dan with enough information for him to give you an accurate quotation.

What should you expect from Daniel Cumber Psychology (DCP)

DCP agree to provide you with realistic expectations of what can be achieved with DCP input. Usually following an initial discussion the educational psychologist will provide you with clear costings for any services DCP recommends. As a service, DCP works in line with the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethics. You can expect us to:

  • Promote and protect the interests of service users, parents and carers
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively
  • Work within the limits of knowledge and skills
  • Delegate appropriately
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Manage risk
  • Report concerns about safety
  • Be open when things go wrong
  • Be honest and trustworthy
  • Keep records of work

Getting down to the nitty gritty

Consent

DCP can’t work without your consent. DCP understands the importance of and makes sure to obtain informed consent.

Confidentiality

Dr Daniel Cumber is an educational psychologist and a member of the HCPC. All HCPC registered psychologists in the UK, including Dan commit to:

  • Respect the confidentiality of those they work with
  • Understand the importance of and are able to maintain confidentiality
  • Are aware of the limits of the concept of confidentiality
  • Understand the principles of information governance and are aware of the safe and effective use of education, health, social care and other relevant information
  • Are able to recognise and respond appropriately to situations where it is necessary to share information to safeguard service users or the wider public

Quotations

Following a request for service, if appropriate, DCP will send you an invite for an initial consultation which information will be gathered to inform a quotation. This will be delivered via email. The quotation will itemise the costings for the services we will provide. Work will not be started until this quote has been accepted in the form of a signed contract of agreement between DCP and the service user.

Payment

For individuals requesting DCP services, payment is made within 14 days of work commencing. Payment is usually made over the phone by BACS following receipt of an invoice by DCP for the contracted and pre-agreed work package. Payment for annual packages will be paid termly from the commencement of the work and subject to a payment schedule written on the DCP invoice.

*Please Note: DCP will not be able to accept cash or card payments.

For organisations requesting our services, DCP will request a purchase order or email to confirm acceptance of the quote/contract. Payment is then requested by invoice. We accept payment by electronic transfer (BACS).

DCP reserve the right to charge interest on all overdue debts. The interest we will charge is 8% plus the Bank of England base rate.

Invoices

DCP issues invoices electronically. Our payment terms are within 14 days of receipt of the invoice and larger packages are subject to payment schedules as per the invoice.

Cancellation

If a session is cancelled by you less than 48 hours prior to the appointment, then 100% of the total cost will be payable.

If a session is cancelled by DCP at any time prior to the appointment DCP would rearrange the work or refund 100% of the amount paid if the work could no longer be completed within an acceptable timescale.

If an annual package of time is taken out then either DCP or the receiving organisation may terminate the contract at any point through 30 days of written communication of this intent with Dan at DCP or by Dan to the receiving organisation. Work and time used to date will be charged.

Initial discussion/consultation

Prior to any involvement, DCP provides an initial discussion to collaboratively co-construct a contract of work to ensure that DCP provides the most appropriate service to meet the needs of the service users. The initial discussion lasts for an hour to an hour and a half and provides an opportunity for concerns, information and expectations to be shared with us. The initial discussion also includes the time for creating an action plan and email correspondence.

Records of Involvement (Reports)

DCP charges for records of involvement. The price you pay will be dependent on the length of time the report takes, this will be agreed with you in advance. Costs for reports may be included in a quotation.

Reports are most valid when completed immediately following the psychologist's input. We may be unable to provide comprehensive reports following any break in provision.

Changes and revisions

DCP don’t want to limit your ability to change your mind about what input you would like Dan to provide. You can change your mind at any point with regard to the services you would like to receive. If you were to cancel services please see above with regards to how we treat cancellations.

Prior to working with you, DCP will have sent you a quotation, contract or costing. If you change your mind about what input you would like us we may provide you with an updated, or separate, quotation, contract or costings.

Reports are based on professional opinion.

Sharing of information

DCP consent forms include permission to share information with relevant professionals. Professionals usually include education staff, GPs, therapists and other health and social care professionals. Being able to share information supports a joined-up approach to support and knowledge.

Prices

Please contact DCP for a price list and service agreement/contract. Prices are dynamic and agreed upon in initial consultations/contracting discussions.

Please note travel charges are calculated on an individual basis and included in quotations and invoices when necessary.

Annual/larger packages of time may have additional charges for travel in term or on annual payment depending on the work agreed. This is to be paid within 14 days of receipt of the invoice.

Complaints

DCP aims to provide a positive service at all times. DCP acknowledges that there may be times when someone is unhappy with the service that they have received. DCP are happy to deal with any complaints in person or on the phone at the first instance. If the complaint cannot be resolved satisfactorily then it can be raised in writing/email and will be reviewed and responded to by Dr Daniel Cumber as Director within 7 days.

Service level agreements

DCP provide schools and education settings looking for regular psychological input with service-level agreements/contracts. Invoices for any services will be sent after initial discussions. They will include a payment schedule for the year and are payable within 14 days of receipt of the invoice in the first instance.

A service-level agreement may have its own bespoke additional terms and conditions.

Professional standards

DCP will carry out services in accordance with the standards expected of an HCPC practitioner psychologist.
